Brush Care Tutorial
How to
Clean Your Brushes
A simple 4-step routine for extending the life of your brushes and keeping makeup flawless.
Step 1: Wet the Bristles
Use lukewarm water to wet just the brush head. Avoid soaking the handle or ferrule—this protects the glue and lacquer for long-term durability.
Step 2: Load Cleanser
Swirl your damp brush directly into the BK Beauty Solid Brush Soap. For a deeper clean, use the textured pad to help break down makeup buildup.
Step 3: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the brush under lukewarm water, gently massaging the bristles until the water runs clear. Repeat if needed for heavier creams or foundations.
Step 4: Dry and Reshape
Squeeze out excess water, reshape the bristles, and lay flat on a towel to dry overnight. Never dry brushes upright while wet—this can cause damage over time.

Ideally, once a week — especially for brushes used with creams or liquids. Not only does this prevent buildup, but it helps your brushes perform better and last longer.
No — always use lukewarm water. Hot water can damage the glue inside the ferrule and break down the lacquer on the wooden handle, shortening your brush’s lifespan.
Hold your brush bristles down, wet only the head, and avoid soaking the entire brush. Use a gentle cleanser like our Solid Brush Soap and rinse thoroughly. Lay brushes flat to dry — never upright.
Our Solid Brush Soap gives you a rich lather, deep clean, and rinses out quickly — so you spend less time washing and more time creating. It’s especially effective with the included textured scrub pad.
Yes, avoid it whenever possible. While alcohol might seem like a quick disinfectant, it can dry out bristles, weaken the glue in the ferrule, and damage the brush over time—especially with repeated use. For regular cleaning, stick to a gentle, nourishing cleanser like our Solid Brush Soap to preserve the quality and performance of your brushes.
It’s optional, but highly recommended. The silicone texture helps break down product faster and more thoroughly, especially on dense or heavily used brushes.
After rinsing, gently squeeze out excess water and reshape the bristles. Lay brushes flat on a clean towel — never in a cup — to prevent water from seeping into the handle and ferrule.
Creams and foundations with silicone can cling to bristles. Don’t worry — just repeat the cleansing process. For heavily soiled brushes, a double cleanse is completely normal.
It’s all-natural, vegan, and powered by coconut oil for a nourishing, effective clean. It’s been Lisa’s go-to method for years — now perfected in a formula you can take anywhere.
